Induction programme for new lawmakers to kick off on Sunday

Manama, Nov. 26 (BNA): Assistant Secretary-General for Committees, Sessions and Parliamentary Support at the Council of Representatives, Yahya Ali Al-Mulla, has announced the comprehensive induction programme for lawmakers in the sixth Legislative Term will kick off on Sunday, and run until December 7.


The programme is organised by the Secretariat-General of the Council of Representatives to prepare newly-elected MPs to carry out their legislative and supervisory role to the fullest, which will enhance the democratic process witnessed by the kingdom, under the leadership of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa.


The induction programmes will include discussion workshops and several lectures on parliamentary work, with a special focus on MPs’ legislative and oversight competence, as well as on their rights and duties stipulated in the provisions of the Constitution. 


They will also focus on work mechanisms, the procedural session and the Council’s sessions, in addition to the formation of parliamentary committees and their work mechanisms.


The programme will also highlight the main financial and economic indicators of the general budget, the Fiscal Balance Programme, public debt management, the work of the parliamentary delegation and the parliamentary friendship committees.
