Amman, Aug. 16 (BNA): Foreign Minister Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid Al-Zayani, and the Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates of the brotherly Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan,. Ayman Safadi, held a press conference in Amman today, as part of the visit of the Minister of Foreign Affairs to Jordan.
Dr. Al-Zayani praised the strong relations between the two brotherly countries, under the leadership of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and His Majesty King Abdullah II bin Al-Hussein of Jordan.
He held a constructive and fruitful sessionof talks, which focused on joint cooperation, in addition to discussing further cooperation and potential opportunities for development in many areas within the framework of the agreements and memoranda of understanding between the two countries.
The two sides discussed the developments, challenges and crises facing the countries of the region, which threaten its security, stability and development, stressing the importance of continuing coordination and joint cooperation to support all efforts and endeavors aimed at reaching political solutions that promote peace and stability and achieve growth and prosperity in the region.
Dr. Al-Zayani stated that the two sides reviewed the outcomes of the Jeddah Summit for Security and Development, in which their Majesties, Highnesses and Excellencies, leaders of the Gulf Cooperation Council countries, the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, the Arab Republic of Egypt, the Republic of Iraq and the United States of America, took part in.
They stressed the need to follow up on bilateral coordination to implement these outcomes, and to take advantage of the positive atmosphere created by the summit to strengthen the strategic partnership between the participating countries and the United States of America.
He added that a number of regional and international issues of common interest were discussed, including the Palestinian issue, the war in Yemen, the Iranian nuclear file, the war in Ukraine, global food security, the energy crisis and other important issues that have become of international concern.
With regard to the Palestinian issue, Dr. Al Zayani stressed the two countries’ firm stance towards the Palestinian issue , calling for an end the Palestinian-Israeli conflict.
They stressed the need to push forward the peace process in the Middle East in order to reach a comprehensive and just settlement that preserves the rights of the Palestinian people to establish their independent state in accordance with the principle of the two-state solution, the relevant international legitimacy resolutions and the Arab Peace Initiative.
The two sides expressed appreciation for the tireless efforts made by the Arab Republic of Egypt to achieve a ceasefire in Gaza, and the necessity of its extension for the benefit of the Palestinian and Israeli peoples.
They agreed to intensify communication to deepen political and diplomatic cooperation between the two countries' foreign ministries, increase joint coordination and unify positions in all international forums, in light of the major challenges, crises and conflicts that the region is undergoing that require a lot of attention, follow-up and continued consultation.
They stressed the importance of joint action to support efforts to establish peace and promote the values of tolerance, peaceful coexistence and brotherhood among people of religions and beliefs, and to combat fanatic ideology and terrorist organizations and the danger they pose to the security and stability of the region.
Safadi welcomed the visit of the Minister of Foreign Affairs to Jordan, stressing the interest of the leaders of the two brotherly countries to consolidate the historical relations between the two sides.
He noted ways of supporting and strengthening bilateral relations between Jordan and Bahrain in order to reflect the depth of brotherly relations and coordination on regional and international issues of common interest, emphasizing the importance of strengthening joint Arab action to face the challenges facing the Middle East region.
He also touched on the many opportunities for cooperation available between the two brotherly countries, stating that it was agreed between the two sides to set a clear road map on how to advance relations between the two countries and to discuss ways to develop cooperation in the diplomatic, economic, educational, investment and other fields.
He highlighted the celebration of the fiftieth anniversary of the establishment of relations between the two kingdoms in 2022, noting that coordination is underway between the two ministries of foreign affairs on organizing a series of events to celebrate this occasion.
