Bahrain’s commitment to reaching zero neutrality stressed

Abu Dhabi, Jan.14 (BNA): Electricity and Water Affairs Minister Yasser bin Ibrahim Humaidan participated in the opening of the 13th session of the  General Assembly of the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA), being held Abu Dhabi the UAE, on January 14 and 15.


He stressed Bahrain’s commitment to reaching zero neutrality by 2060 and implementing the interim goals to achieve it related to renewable energy and energy efficiency.


He noted the steps taken by the Government of the Kingdom of Bahrain to achieve the sustainability of energy resources through initiatives and programs that are launched at the national level to encourage investments in renewable energy projects and increase the percentage of renewable energy resources in the total energy mix.


He indicated the Kingdom's keenness to intensify in order to achieve the goals of sustainable development, especially the seventh goal related to sustainable energy, which is a main focus of the work of the International Renewable Energy Agency in addition to international efforts to address climate change.


The minister also participated in several other ministerial sessions to discuss the future vision, plans and experiences in the fields of renewable and clean energy.


The sessions stressed the important role of renewable energy to contribute to preserving the environment and addressing climate change without negatively affecting development efforts.
