Parliament supports evacuation plan; rejects Qatari irresponsible measures

Manama, Mar. 29(BNA): The Council of Representatives hailed strenuous national efforts to protect citizens and residents’ health and safety and implement the royal directives issued by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al-Khalifa.


It commended the launch of the financial stimulus package and the assistance provided to affected needy families, lauding the precautionary measures to combat the novel coronavirus (COVID-19).


It praised the contingency plan to evacuate Bahraini students in overseas countries, a scheme which was outlined by the Government during the joint meeting with the Council of Representatives’ Bureau.


In a statement today, it commended cooperation between the legislative and executive branches of government in light of current developments resulting from COVID-19 pandemic.


It urged all parties to exert all efforts and joint ranks, led by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al-Khalifa to protect citizens and residents’ safety and health.


The statement commended cooperation with the Government, chaired by His Royal Highness Prime Minister Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al-Khalifa, hailing the national efforts exerted by His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al-Khalifa, Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander and First Deputy Premier and all members of the National Taskforce for Combating COVID-19.


The Council of Representatives strongly condemned the irresponsible measures taken by Qatar against Bahraini passengers, refuting the claims cited in the statement which issued by the Qatari Government’s Communication Office.


It denounced Qatar’s acts which represent a blatant interference in the internal affairs of the Kingdom of Bahrain, aiming to spark discord, strife, drive wedges and undermine national unity, to which the people of Bahraini  always adhere proudly.  


The Council of Representatives expressed full support to the Government to start the immediate evacuation of citizens who desire to return to the Kingdom of Bahrain, stressing the necessity of complying with the precautionary measures.
