Bahrain's strides in protecting children's rights stressed
Manama, Nov. 19 (BNA): The Labour and Social Development Ministry underlined Bahrain’s annual participation in the celebration marking the Universal Children’s Day and the World Day for the Prevention of Child Abuse which are observed on November 19 and 20, in line with a recommendation by the United Nations General Assembly in 1954. The event is considered as an opportunity to re-assert the need to prevent violence against children and provide them with a secure environment for their upbringing by shedding light on main programmes and challenges and taking the necessary procedures to protect the children’s interest and promote their welfare.

Bahraini women’s empowerment discussed
Manama, Nov. 19 (BNA): Labour and Social Development Minister Jameel bin Mohammed Ali Humaidan received Bahrain Young Ladies Association board members, led by chairperson Ibtissam Khamis. The delegation thanked the minister for patronizing the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Family Guidance Forum, which was organized recently by the Bahrain Young Ladies Association. They outlined the association’s objectives and plans to serve women, enhance their cultural, education and social status and encourage them to participate positively in all development sectors.

UNCITRAL regional office to open in Bahrain
Manama, Nov. 19 (BNA): The United Nations Commission on International Trade Law (UNCITRAL) will open a regional office in Bahrain as a gateway to cover the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region. ‘The planned regional office will be the second of its kind as the first was opened in Seoul, South Korea", said Bahrain Chamber for Dispute Resolution (BCDR-AAA) Chief Executive Officer Professor Nassib G. Ziadé. He made the statement on the sidelines of the 4th International Conference for a Euro-Mediterranean Community of International Arbitration, which opened this morning in Bahrain.
